Hardy perennial herb has sweet smelling, aromatic foliage which is commonly used in Mediterranean cuisine. Flowers produced in summer and autumn can also be used for flavouring after they have been gently dried.
Sow seeds indoors or under glass from February to June. Place the seed tray in a propagator at a temperature of 16-21c. Transplant outside after hardening off. Plant at a distance of 30cm apart on any well drained or chalky soil in full sun.

Chamomile - 900 seeds -Matricaria recutica
Use flowers in herb tea. Sow in spring or autumn. Press seeds lightly in to the soil. Do not cover the seeds. If sown in seed trays place them in full light
Chives - 500 seeds - Allium schoenoprasum
Perennial herb with edible leaves and flowers. Excellent companion plant attracting butterflies and bees. Direct sow from early spring. Alternatively grow under glass from MDill Tetraarch to June. Germination takes 14-21 days. Transplant a few seedlings into pots grow on and transplant after frosts.
Dill Tetra - 800 seeds -Anethum graveolens
High yield of fresh leaves. Use fresh leaves for salads and fish dishes. The seeds and flower heads can be used for pickling cucumbers or making chutneys, Sow from April when soil has warmed up. Sow seeds 2-3 cm deep in rows 30 cm apart.
Marjoram - 900 seeds -Origanum majorana
Use the leaves on pizza and meat dishes.- Sow outside in May, seeds are very small, sow no deeper than 1.5 mm and cover with fine compost. Seeds can also be sown indoors and planted out in small clumps. When the plants are large enough to handle thin to 20 cm. Transplanting is also possible.
Sage - 50 seeds -Salvia officinalis
Perennial, culinary herb and medical plant. Height: 50-70 cm - Sow indoors in March, 1.5 cm deep. Plant out in May/June, 50-60 cm between rows, 30-40 cm between plants. Grow in warm, sheltered place.
Thyme - 500seeds -Thymus vulgaris
The leaves can be used dried or fresh for all meat and vegetable dishes. Sow in a heated greenhouse; transfer the seedlings to pots. Plant outside in May. Planting distance: 35x35cm.
Red Basil - 250 seeds - Ocimum basilicum

Coriander - 350 seeds - Coriandrum sativum
Use leaves and seeds for flavouring salads, curries, pickles and chutney. Sow in spring when soil has warmed up. Sow seeds in rows around 1 cm deep and then cover with soil/compost. Space rows around 35 cm apart. Sow seeds around 4 cm apart. Once the seedlings are about 4-5 cm high you can thin them to about 20 cm apart
