Just a little celebration today of the fact that it's been a year since we signed up with the Living Wage Foundation! Karavan's focus is always to offer the greenest and most sustainable products we can find not just as a business, but because we believe in it and we believe in helping our community take a more eco-friendly path. A big part of that though is treating everyone working here with respect and decency, because if you ignore the human factor in what you do then the rest can easily be undermined.
We're also a small, independent retailer. If you've been in our shop then you'll know that everyone who works here ends up being part of the place, if only because the cat gets his claws in. And it can be hard for a small business, it can definitely be a lot of work to keep things going in the right direction but with both our environmental and Living Wage commitments we're showing what can be done and showing that there's no reason why other businesses can't follow suit. It's just a matter of having the will to do it.
